Seed Treatment of Maize

Maize is an important player in crop diversification policy of many Indian states. It is used in poultry and animal feed and for the manufacture of starch, glucose, corn flakes. It is also used as a human food in winter season as a special delicious recipe in combination with Sarson ka-sag. Baby corn is eaten as Salad and used for cooking vegetables and preparing pickles, pakoras, soups, etc. Maize is also one of the main fodder crop of the state. Traditionally maize was grown as kharif crop and now sowing during rabi season has also been started in some areas with invention of new varieties. It is now possible to raise spring crop too.

Maize cultivation needs pest management practices like seed treatment, spraying and dusting. Sumitomo Chemical introduces the best solution for all these process, at one step! The various pests of maize can be controlled by seed dressing using "Dantotsu".

Dantotsu is a wide spectrum pesticide which can be safely used as a seed dressing chemical.

The following are the supreme results obtained by conducting a trial of Dantotsu layed on 29th February 2008, in comparison with Confidor and Gaucho:

Dantotsu, as you can see, has a unique mode of action and is effective because of the following strengths:
  • Is effective against the strains resistant to other type of insecticides.
  • Is systemic in action.
  • Is a broad spectrum insecticide.
  • Has high insecticidal activity with a low dosage.
  • Has long residual activity in the living tissue.
  • Has low toxicity to mammals and is environmentally safe.
